New Travel Adventures: Photographing a Destination Wedding in Croatia

It's funny how I thought travel photography was my calling when I started this blog over six years ago. As it turned out though: I'm actually a terrible travel photographer. Because I really don't like shooting landscapes. When you look at my blog content from the last years, it's easy to notice how I constantly shy away from the big, scenic frames -- I always rather focus on details like pretty coffees with blurry backgrounds. I mean, seriously, who comes home from an Iceland road trip with tons of photos of random gas station coffees, but didn't even take a [...]

Moonwalking in Croatia

Moonwalking?! Wait, what? Yes, moonwalking in Croatia. But it has nothing to do with Michael Jackson. Or the actual moon for that matter. The landscape on the island of Krk seems to be from outer space so someone smart came up with the idea to nickname the hiking trails of Krk "moonwalks". At least this was what my guidebook said. Honestly, I had my doubts. I had seen photos of Croatian islands -- beautiful pebble beaches surrounded by green pine forests and Mediterranean cities. All these typical Croatia photos depicted an insanely colorful country: Bright red old tiles on every [...]

Croatia – Endless Shades of Blue!

It's true what they say: The Adriatic Sea is so very blue it's unreal! While visiting Croatia, I couldn't get over how divine these blues were. Blue definitely is the color of Croatia: The water, the sky, the house doors - all blue, all in a different shade, all shimmering, all mesmerizing... See for yourself! My little collection of favorite pictures of Croatia's Endless Shades of Blue:

The Beautiful Island of Rab, Croatia – In Pictures

The great thing about staying on the islands in the Croatian Adriatic Sea is that it is pretty easy to do "island-hopping". Although staying on one island most of the time, you can easily explore some of the other islands and the main land for attractions like Plitvice Lakes by boat. In the summer season the boat trips in-between the islands, the Croatian main land and even to Italy are offered on a daily basis. However, most of them discontinue in the fall as the sea tends to be less predictable and the wind gets very strong. Luckily, some of the touristic mini-cruises for [...]

Plitvice Lakes National Park – In Pictures

The Plitvice Lakes National Park is one of the most important sights in the Balkan region. Although it was quite a long drive from the island of Krk, where we were staying, I knew just had to go there. And yes, it really was totally worth it -- "It" meaning sitting in the car for almost eight hours that day! I had pretty high expectations, since everyone has been raving about this national park and I was really hoping it would live up to them... And it sure did: I had never seen so many beautiful sides of nature crammed into [...]
